CricutCardzChallenge #68

happy wednesday :)  this week at CCC jeri has chosen our theme to be a house image, adding a flourish and lace. be sure to go check out the awesome creations the rest of DT1 has sampled for us :) and be sure to share your card or project with us :)
for my project i altered a bag. i thought this would make a cute welcome to the neighborhood gift..ya know when youre moving in and you need that little break, what beats a cup of tea and cookies.. of any kind! :)
i used zoobaloo for all the cuts. i cheated on the flourish some, and used a stamped image on the tag for that. i added a pearl heart (hero arts) on the chimney and doodled on the house and roof. used some colorbox fluid chalk. paper is memorybox. the cookies were unknowingly donated by my step father ;)
thanks so much for having a looksee here, and as always your comments make my heart warm :) thanks:) xxxshelly

this weeks theme over at TKJ is flowers.
for my card i started with kraft cardstock  (purchased at thekraftoutlet ,link on my side bar)
i took a stem stamp ( dont know who made this one)  and stamped directly onto the cardstock with colorbox archival dye (tree frog) then outlined with a pen and then colored in a little with  TH distress ink ( peeled paint). stamped some dragonflies ( inkadinkadoo i think) in TH distress ink( victorian velvet) the outlined with a pen again and added distress stickles ( victorian velvet)
for the flowers, i cut them using my cricut and a scallop circle using a glassine bag ( also purchased from TKO).i colored them with TH distress stains ( spun sugar and wild honey and victorian velvet)
added a brad to hold them together and adhered them to the stems with a glue dot. ( that i also made using aleens tac~ it over and over). i added some dirt shading and sky shading using Th distress inks. i also added victorian velvet shimmer that i made myself.

                                                      happy friday :)
this week over at PCC mary has chosen our challenge to be any theme but using 3 patterned papers. ya'll know how i love my paper so this was way fun :)
i made a tag  this week. dont know why but for some reason im just gettin into liking making these.. maybe all the tim holtz stuff im watching has something to so with it  ;)  isnt he just  the cutest boy under the sun!
so..anyway...what i did was use my cricut and sweethearts cart for the tag and the heart distressing with tims distress inks and spritzing with homemade glimmer mist. . the bird is from storybook cartridge. i added  distressed stickles  and rock candy to it. a teensie pearl for its eye. the flowers i made by cutting the heart flower (shadow feature) from sweethearts cartridge..5 for one flower and 8 for the other onto ivory or buff colored cardstock.. pierced a hole in the center then colored them with distress stains  (wild honey and spun sugar) then added some spritz to these. then i added distressed stickles. i stuck a brad in the middle to hold them together then put a dab of liquid pearls (buttercup) on the top of the brad for the leaves i used paper raffia that i colored with distress stain. added a bit of ribbon and a couple of kaiser kraft pearls.  the lovely paper is prima

friday sketchers

happy friday :)  this is for the challenge sketch this week at FS
the boy is a stamp from Prima..how cute is he!!!!!!!i love this new stamp and paper line.
i stamped him with colorbox fluid chalk (chestnut roan) then colored him in with tim holtz distress stain (hair),SU ( bordering blue and brilliat blue shirt and pants certainly celery grass)) i used tim holtz distressing ink (antique linen) all over the image and added a little vintage photo too.. then i used utee (ultra thick embossing enamel) on that. i heated it improperly the first time so i went over it again with a second coat, then when i flattened it , well of course it "shattered" so i just went with the cracked glass effect on this.. added color box fluid chalk then wiped the image off, that way the ink only set into the cracks.paper is my DCWV rustic card base is SU (basic grey)  i used my cricut and accents essentials cart for the circle behind the image. thankas so much for stopping by and your sweet  comments warm my heart. :) have a great rest of day :) xxxshelly

sweet magnolias international blog hop

happy friday! today is the start of a fun blog hop...i hope youre enjoying it. at the very end of my long  post ill leave a list of the entire blog hop order in case you get lost along the way :)  its neat to read about all the other traditions from all over and to see how the crafters craft about them. be sure to play along with us! show us your family traditions or heritage.AND i have a pretty giveaway all you have to do is leave a comment AND become a follower of my blog. :)
what i thought  id share with you is a tradition my daughter and i started a few years ago between us. at the beginning of each new year i alter a small kraft lunch bag. and  every holiday, birthday or just when one has done something extra that just made us feel that lil more special , we write it down and put that note into the bag. at the end of the year we open the bag and go thru the notes, reminiscing and talking about that event.its always sweet to recall that moment.sometimes we get a good laugh sometimes we get a little weepy eyed ;)  its just really nice time spent together.
the reason i use a small bag is for space. when were done and its time to put it away the small bag can be folded down and put away in its special place with the others in a box that will be passed down to my daughter who i hope when she FINALLY has a kid..specifically a daughter..HINT to my child! lol, shares this tradition.
the details on my bag ..at the top i used a( fiskars) punch that cuts a doily shape at 4 and 6 inches. ( i used the 4 inch cut) , but you can  buy doilies at your local craft stores . i sewed a button onto it. under the flap i attached  clear velcro coins. i purchased mine from joann.com (that way it stays closed nicely.) the ribbon is rayon that i colored with colorbox fluid chalk, heat set that then added (tim holtz) distress stickles (spun sugar) then crumpled in to a ball. i let it dry then opened it up. isnt that easy!
i hand made the flowers. heres an easy tutorial on that  click ~~~> thank you kim!<~~~~~.be sure to check out all of kims blog she has some awesome tutorials and techniques. and easy to follow!
on my flowers i added colorbox fluid chalk and distress stickles (spun sugar and  wild honey).the butterflies are (martha stewart) punches. i added spun sugar and tumbled glass distress stickles to them along with colorbox fluid chalk on the edges. i hand stitched a little  on the paper and i also stamped a couple of butterflies using (tim holtz) distress ink in antique linen. the sentiment was computer generated. i dabbed  distress stickles ( scattered straw) over all the paper. if you click on the pictures it will bring a very upclose shot that you can see them better.   thats it. very easy to make a sweet bag thats pretty.
i know this is a little long but i be sure to scroll down under my pictures as i have gotten a wonderful super talented sponsor ~~~> Kathy <~~~ who has a special handmade gift that one of you will receive. ill randomly pick a winner on the 21st and post the winner here so please be sure to check back in :)

the kraft journal

happy tuesday. this weeks challenge at TKJ is st patricks day or green

i used kraft cardstock for the base of the tag that i ran thru my cuttlebug with swiss dots folder . i also did this on the  panel ( kraft cardstock) the shamrock is on, but thought it was too much so i ran it thru again a few times to smoosh it down. i added raffia for the ribbon which i added distress stickles to. i added a  scratch off sticker   ( i cut a 1 inch circle , added a lil  word onto that then adhered the gold scratch off onto that ( the kraft paper, raffia and scratch off can be purchased at the kraft outlet.). i used a sharpie for the feeln lucky. then added a cute felt arrow so the recipient will know to scratch away :)   i also used my cricut and a childs year cartridge for the shamrock. added a couple of green brads and a scrap of green plaid paper and colorbox fluid chalk.
thanks so much for checking this one out hope your days been a good one :) xxxshelly

thekraftjournal

                                                      happy thursday :)
this week over at TKJ their theme is spring. i saw this CUTEST EVER burlap gift bag  on this blog here..kim duran..omg you must go see her blog ! i dont have burlap and would love to know if she cut this herself or if she actually found burlap envelopes.... so.. i was very much inspired by her creation. i wondered if i dont have burlap whats the next best thing that i DO have.. and a TA DA moment hit me. the cute cotton drawstring bags i purchased from the kraft outlet! yes!!!
first, i inked my bag with color box fluid chalk. then heat set it. then i added spun sugar and honey distress stickles. the very cute fairy ct is from prima ,sweet fairy paper pack. the flower is made from  a  couple of hero arts that i glued the centers together, then applied spun sugar stickles to. added ribbon lace and button. the for you are just stickers i used fabric glue to make sure they stay on.
now wouldnt this just be cute to add either a little sweet gift to. how about some flower bulbs with a cute little note saying friends are the flowers in the garden of life. :), lottery tickets... the possibilities are endless and if you have other ideas as to how this can be used let me know!
thanks so much for stopping by today, dont forget to check out kims blog and TKJ too! great inspiration and ideas/tutorials over there. have a super rest of day :) xxxshelly

tuesdaymorningsketches

happy wednesday :) this is for melissas sketch over at TMS. i just love her sketches so much!
for my card i turned the design  because i didnt want to lose the images of the dragonflies from the b/g paper.
i used a stampendous stamp for the dragonfly, stamping first on the green paper then again onto ivory cardstock using colorbox fluid chalk . i cut it from the ivory then adhered that over the first stamped image. i added  distress stickles . its a sketch stamp so i didnt want to actually color it in. added a few rhinestones to the card thats it. the gorgeous paper is prima. thanks for stopping by to have a looksee  hope you like this one :) have a great rest of day :) xxxshelly

sorry about the lighting on this, its a cloudy day here.

the kraft journal

happy wednesday :)  this weeks over at TKJ their theme is cute as a button. be sure to go check that out :) great fun inspiration there. for my card i made a cute little birdie out of a basic grey  button. first, i stamped a flourish onto my cardstock, then adhered the bird. made him some little birdie  legs and tootsies, i used my cricut and accents essentials cartrdige and cut a heart for its wing, a black pearl for its eye and cut a triangle fo rits beak which i added a pop dot under. i drew a stem for the flower, and free hand cut the flower adding a daffodil colored pearl from memorybox.  all buttons are basic grey , the sentiment is a $bin from michaels. paper is memorybox brioche. the base of my card is kraft, which is purchased from the kraft outlet. thanks so much for checking this out :) have a great rest of day :) xxxshelly

cricutcardz #64

happy wednesday!  this week over at CCC  in honor of dr duess and national read across america week  jeri has chosen a theme of bookmarks. be sure to go check out what the rest of the DT has created to hold the page for ya :)
i made 2 bookmarks for this challenge and also made some a long time ago for bittenbythebug which ill show on this post again.
i used animal kingdom cartridge for the bookmarks.

for the first one (on the right)  i wanted to honor dr suess , so i used the fishbowl bookmark, then added fish ( one fish two fish,...you get it ;) ) from zoobaloo cartridge. i thought they were more suessish  :) i added cloud9 raindots and a little colorbox fluid chalk.
for the 2nd one i opted for girly. i used a childs year for the book/read and girl reading. the wording is from graphically speaking. i added colorbox fluid chalk, ribbon, stickles and dotted with acrylic paint.i added a swirl clip  to attach the b/mark to the book page ( which  realize didnt photo in this pic but you can see it on the top post :)
now heres the other 2 , i used graphically speaking for words and going places (card feature) for the images. i added magnets to the front and back insides covering them with paper ( using shadow feature for that ( page 130 in the manuel) they fold over the page this way. the magnets then keep them in place. also added some stitching, colorbox fluid chalk , a flower from i forget which cartridge and ms punch  butterflies

thanks so much for stopping by and having a peek, hope you have a fun rest of day :) XXXshelly
